To develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic action to improve the academic and administrative performance of the institution.
To promote measures for institutional functioning towards quality enhancement through internalization of quality culture and institutionalization of best practices.
Functions
The functions of IQAC are
- Development and application of quality benchmarks/parameters for various academic and administrative activities of the institution
- Facilitating the creation of a learner-centric environment conducive to quality education and faculty maturation to adopt the required knowledge and technology for participatory teaching and learning process
- Arrangement for feedback response from students, parents and other stakeholders on quality-related institutional processes
- Dissemination of information on various quality parameters of higher education
- Organization of inter and intra institutional workshops, seminars on quality related themes and promotion of quality circles
- Documentation of the various programs/activities leading to quality improvement
- Acting as a nodal agency of the Institution for coordinating quality-related activities, including adoption and dissemination of best practices
- Development and maintenance of institutional database through MIS for the purpose of maintaining /enhancing the institutional quality
- Development of Quality Culture in the institution
- Preparation of the Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR) as per guidelines and parameters of NAAC, to be submitted to NAAC.

Statutory Cells
The objective of the Student Grievance Redressal Cell is to develop a responsive and accountable attitude among all the stakeholders in order to maintain harmonious educational atmosphere in the Institute. High Priority is given by the Management to address the complaints/grievances of the students and they are resolved at the earliest. With the help of the Principal, Director, Deans and HODs this cell provides timely support and help to students regarding their grievances. Suggestions/Complaint Boxes are placed in prominent places for the students.
The grievances of the students are a matter of top most priority for the college and the matter is resolved within the stipulated time.
Principal is the chairman of the institutional level Grievance Redressal Cell. The committee consists of HODs of various department, few faculty members, administrative officer and estate officer of the college. If any charge remains unsolved at the departmental level, students can register it for consideration at the college level cell.
Grievances with regard to academic matters, Continuous Evaluation etc., are redressed through student grievance redressal committee.
The grievances pointed out by the students in the meeting such as repairs and maintenance in the college and hostel, water purifiers, napkin vending machine, canteen and improving sports facility were amicably resolved by the college level cell.
Exclusions
SGRC shall not entertain following issues.
- Decisions of the Academic Council / Board of studies and other Academic / Administrative committees constituted by the College.
- Decisions with regard to Award of Scholarships / Fee concessions / Awards / Medals.
- Decisions made by college under the Discipline Rules and Misconduct.
Functions
- Complaint Boxes have been installed in front of the Principal’s room, in which the Students, who want to remain anonymous, can put in writing their grievances and their suggestions for improving the academics/administration in the College.
- Students can lodge a complaint.
- The person concerned can personally approach to any member of the Cell.
- The issues will be attended promptly on receipt of grievances from the students.
- The cell will review all complaints and will act formally accordingly as per the policy.
- The cell will give report to the principal about the issues attended to and the number of pending issues, if any, which require direction and guidance from the Principal.

Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Welfare Cell (SC/ST Cell)
Establishment
- To fulfill the prescribed UGC norms, the SC/ST Cell was constituted in 1990 at Shri Nehru Maha Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore as a means for caring for SC/ST students, teaching, and administrative staff’.
- A Standing Committee for the welfare of SC/ST has been constituted in the college with the Principal as Chairperson to look after the welfare of SC/ST students.
- The cell regularly conducts remedial coaching classes on life skills, personality development and making presentations and also organizes interactive sessions and informal meetings with students regarding their personal, social and academic problems.
Objective
- The main objective of the cell is to monitor the guidelines issued by the UGC, Government of India, and Government of Tamil Nadu of reservation policies and to implement the same in the college departments.
- The cell also aims to ensure that anti-discrimination laws in the context of race/caste/creed are followed in letter and in spirit.

INTRODUCTION
The Minorities Cell at Shri Nehru Maha Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science is a dedicated and inclusive space within our institution committed to promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity. We recognize and celebrate the richness of our student body’s cultural, religious, and ethnic backgrounds, and we are dedicated to ensuring that every member of our community feels valued, heard, and empowered.
Our institution established the minority cells to address the unique needs and concerns of minority students. The primary purpose of a Minority Cell in our college is to ensure that students from various minority groups, such as racial, ethnic, religious, or linguistic minorities, have access to equal opportunities and a supportive environment for their personal and academic growth.The cell is actively functioning for the welfare of minority students.

Student Grievance Redressal Committee (SGRC)
The Grievance Redressal cell desires to promote and maintain a conductive and unprejudiced environment for its stakeholders. It attends to the grievances and complaints registered by anyone with regard to the activities of the institution and in particular those made by students. The cell ensures effective solution to the grievances using a fair approach.
The Grievance Redressal cell enables the students to express their grievances by initiating and following the grievance procedure in accordance with the rules and regulations of the college. The cell meets periodically, examines the nature and pattern of the grievances and redresses it accordingly.
Objectives
- To develop an organizational framework to resolve grievances of the students and other stakeholders.
- To ensure effective solution to the stakeholders grievances with an impartial and fair approach
- To investigate the reason of dissatisfaction.
- To enlighten the students on their duties and responsibilities.
Functions
- Provides information about the cells objective and mode of operation through the website and handbook.
- Informs students of the process for registering of grievances in the Induction programs.
- Acknowledges and analyze the grievances.
- Seeks a solution through decision-making process.
- Reports the grievances and records hoe they were redressed.
- The procedures made known through the hand book, given to each student at the beginning of every academic year.
Procedures
- The Grievances shall be redressed depending on the nature of the grievance. The Grievances are invited through suggestion box provided in the lobby and E-mail ([email protected]).
- Department level counselling is offered where the matter can be resolved.
- Grievances pertaining to academic and internal evaluation shall be redressed at individual/faculty/HoD/principal level.
- For other grievances that require review shall be redressed by receiving written and signed application.
- As soon as the application is received the Redressal committee shall review the complaint and invites both the parties for discussion. The outcome of the discussion is reported to the Principal for further action to be taken.

Internal Complaints Committee
AIMS OF ICC:
- Promote gender harmony among students and employees to prevent discrimination and sexual harassment.
- Provide recommendations to the management for potential amendments to the Rules for students outlined in the Prospectus and the Bye-Laws. These changes aim to establish fairness in gender-related matters and establish procedures for addressing and preventing acts of discrimination and sexual harassment by both students and employees.
- Address cases of discrimination and sexual harassment against women promptly and efficiently, focusing on offering support services to victims and putting an end to the harassment.
- Suggest appropriate punitive measures to the management for those found guilty of discrimination or sexual harassment.
- It’s worth noting that, according to the Supreme Court’s guidelines, sexual harassment can be defined as any unwelcome sexually determined behavior, whether direct or implied, including physical contact and advances, requests for sexual favors, sexually colored remarks, displaying pornography, and other unwelcome sexual conduct, both verbal and non-verbal. The Committee’s purview also covers behaviors such as eve-teasing, unsavory remarks, jokes causing embarrassment, innuendos, gender-based insults, unwelcome sexual overtones (such as obnoxious phone calls), unwanted physical touch or molestation, privacy violations, and any other actions likely to violate an individual’s privacy.
OBJECTIVES OF ICC:
The primary objectives are to prevent discrimination and sexual harassment while fostering gender harmony among both students and staff. The committee will achieve this by:
- Promoting gender amity among students and employees, with the goal of eliminating discrimination and sexual harassment
- Making recommendations to the management for potential modifications or expansions in the rules outlined in the Prospectus and the Bye-Laws. These changes aim to ensure gender equality and establish clear procedures for addressing and resolving acts of discrimination and sexual harassment committed by both students and employees.
- Handling cases of discrimination and sexual harassment against women promptly, with a focus on providing support to victims and putting an end to the harassment

Anti ragging Committee
In conformity with Supreme Court judgments and directions, UGC guidelines and State Government Instructions, Shri Nehru Maha Vidyalaya (SNMV) College of Arts & Science,Malumachampatti, near the famous Eachanari temple on Coimbatore-Pollachi national highway is following ‘Zero-Tolerance policy’ towards ragging. Any student of Shri Nehru Maha Vidyalaya (SNMV) College of Arts & Science,Malumachampatti,Coimbatore, accused and found guilty of ragging, will be severely dealt with, in accordance with the Provisions of the Law.
Ragging has ruined countless innocent lives and careers. It is now defined as an act that violates or is perceived to violate an individual student’s dignity. Ragging is totally banned in the campus and anyone found guilty of ragging and/or helping ragging is liable to be punished as it is criminal offence. Shri Nehru Maha Vidyalaya (SNMV) College of Arts & Science,Malumachampatti,Coimbatore ensures strict compliance on the prevention of Ragging in the form.

Objectives

- To bring out an awareness among the students about the consequences of ragging.
- To keep a constant eye and vigilance over ragging so as to prevents its occurrence.
- To address any ragging issues immediately and taken action as advised by the committee.
Anti-Ragging Policy
According to the UGC Regulation on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Institutions, 2009, ragging constitutes one or more of any of the following acts:
- Any conduct by any student or students whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student.
- Indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities by any student or students which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship, physical or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in any fresher or any other student.
- Asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of such fresher or any other student.
- Any act by a senior student that prevents, disrupts or disturbs the regular academic activity of any other student or a fresher.
- Exploiting the services of a fresher or any other student for completing the academic tasks assigned to an individual or a group of students.
- Any act of financial extortion or forceful expenditure burden put on a fresher or any other student by students.
- Any act of physical abuse including all variants of it: sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, stripping, forcing obscene and lewd acts, gestures, causing bodily harm or any other danger to health or person.
- Any act or abuse by spoken words, emails, post, public insults which would also include deriving perverted pleasure, vicarious or sadistic thrill from actively or passively participating in the discomfiture to fresher or any other student.
- Any act of physical or mental abuse (including bullying and exclusion) targeted at another student (fresher or otherwise) on the ground of colour, race, religion, caste, ethnicity, gender (including transgender), sexual orientation, appearance, nationality, regional origins, linguistic identity, place of birth, place of residence or economic background.
Punishments
According to the UGC Regulation on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009, depending on the nature and gravity of the guilt established by the Anti-Ragging Squad, those found guilty may be awarded one or more of the following punishments, namely;
- Warning , writing apology letter
- Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
- Withholding/ withdrawing scholarship/ fellowship and other benefits.
- Debarring from appearing in any test/ examination or other evaluation process.
- Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament, youth festival, etc.
- Suspension/ expulsion from the hostel.
- Cancellation of admission.
- Rustication from the institution for period ranging from one to four semesters.
Powers and Functions: Anti ragging
- To uphold and comply with the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court and be vigilant on any acts amounting to ragging;
- To publicize to all students and prevalent directives and the actions that can be taken against those indulging in ragging;
- To consider the complaints received from the students and conduct enquiry and submit report to the Anti- Ragging Committee along with punishment recommended for the offenders;
- Oversee the procedure of obtaining undertaking from the students in accordance with the provisions;
- Conduct workshops against ragging menace and orient the students;
- To provide students the information pertaining to contact address and telephone numbers of the person(s) identified to receive complaints/distress calls;
- To offer services of counseling and create awareness to the students;
- To take all necessary measures for prevention of Ragging inside the Campus.

OBC Cell
INTRODUCTION
Our college established OBC Cell for the betterment of the OBC students. Our college takes special interest in facilitating financial support to the students of these communities from the government and non-governmental organisations.The cell is actively functioning for the welfare of OBC students.
OBJECTIVES
- To Maintain social relationship among the admitted students in the college and resolve issues, grievances, representations etc
- To create awareness among the OBC students regarding various scholarship programmes of State Government and UGC.
- To Ensure reservation norms in the admission of students and in the appointments of teaching and non-teaching staff.
- To Coordinate and give equal opportunity, welfare and other schemes including financial assistance from the government and UGC.
- To Explore redressal mechanisms and to give provisions for remedial coaching and counseling.
- To collect information in respect of training these communities for students Reservation policies and Complaint Register.

Electoral Literacy Club
An Electoral Literacy Club is a platform to engage College students through interesting
activities and hands-on experience to sensitize them on their electoral rights and familiarize
them with the electoral process of registration and voting. Electoral Literacy Clubs are
especially being set up in colleges all across India targeting the new voters, (in the age group
of 18-21 years old) pursuing their graduation. The club will have all the students from all
semesters as its members.
OBJECTIVES:
The Electoral Literacy Club shall be established at our college with the following
objectives:
- To educate the targeted populations about voter registration, electoral process and related matters through hands on experience.
- To familiarize the targeted populations about voting with EVM and VVPAT
- To help the target audience understand the value of their vote
- To harness the potential of ELC members for carrying the electoral literacy in communities.
- To facilitate voter registration for its eligible members who are not yet registered.
- To develop a culture of electoral participation and maximize the informed and ethical voting and follow the principle ‘Every Vote Counts’ and ‘No Voter to be Left Behind’

EQUAL OPPORTUNITY CELL
The Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC) has been constituted according to the UGC guidelines to address the issues related to staff & students belonging to Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribe, Other Backward Caste, minorities and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). The main aim of this cell is to provide guidance and counselling with respect to academic, financial, social and other matters and to enhance the diversity within the campus.
