IT Infrastructure - Shri Nehru Maha Vidyalaya

Shri Nehru Maha Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science affords exceptional IT infrastructure amenities and state-of-the-art computing resources in order to fulfil the academic needs of the student and staff community.

The College has nine computer laboratories with 770 systems which includes high-tech desktops, laptops and NComputing systems (Green Environment systems). The systems are connected with a Local Area Network (LAN). The Computer Laboratories are consistently enhanced to align with the latest advancements, maintaining equilibrium with the evolving industrial expectations. In response to the latest technological requirements advanced computing facilities are provided to the students for a variety of peripherals.

Currently 350 Mbps Internet connectivity is available 24×7 through multiple service providers through leased lines and Broadband. With Fiber-optic backbone connectivity, our Institution’s cutting-edge campus network provides access to the Internet and Intranet applications for every block as well as to the college hostels.

The Wi-Fi enabled campus ensures seamless communication and provide abundant access to technology relevant information that enriches the computer-based design and analysis learning process. Further the firewall is installed in campus to prevent unauthorized access from the outside network through internet connection.

ICT enabled classrooms, the smart class rooms with the interactive boards are provided to the students to enrich the teaching-learning methodology.

Higher-end servers are equipped with ERP software to automate the academic and administrative processes.

The computing facilities are continuously upgraded with software in accordance with the institution’s forward-looking strategy. The hands-on experience with the latest hardware and software innovations enriches the knowledge and skills of the students.

Power backup has been provided to IT Peripherals through sufficient UPS and Generators to avoid power interruptions. The computer labs are equipped with smart power strips and outlets that automatically cut power to peripherals when not in use, helping to eliminate standby power consumption.

The College library is automated and affords access to library database resources such as DELNET, INFLIBNET, NDL and Shodh Sindhu facilitating access to a wide range of e journals. The library software Campesi Lib has been updated with the latest version MS SQL 7.9.4. The Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) elevates the library management system. There is a reprography machine for photocopying in the library.

The Language Lab is equipped with Audio-Video gadgets to improve the English communication skills of the students.

CCTV surveillance cameras are installed in the campus as well as in the college buses for safety and security needs.

A committed IT support team is available to assists students and faculty, facilitating a smooth and efficient functioning of the IT infrastructure and addressing any technical issues promptly. The IT support team is well trained in energy-saving best practices and encourages users to adopt responsible computing habits, such as turning off devices when not in use, contributing to overall energy efficiency.

Shri Nehru Maha Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science has tie-up with leading assessment skill company TCS to conduct their online examinations and placement assessment exams for the students.

Computer Lab Rules and Regulations for Staff

Mobile phones are strictly prohibited inside the Computer Lab.
Systems should be used only for official purpose (Internet should not be accessed for personal use).
The necessary details via Name, System No, Login Time, Logout Time and Signature has to be recorded in the concerned Staff Log register.
After completion of work, staff has to properly shutdown and switch off the system and make sure the furniture are in appropriate position.
For the allotted practical classes, the concerned staff has to be present in the lab atleast 5 minutes before the arrival of their students.
The staff has to remain inside the lab for their entire lab hour and should leave only after the students.
HOD’s has to monitor their respective faculties regarding the maintenance of time, staff signature in log book and discipline inside the lab.
