The first NSS unit was started in the college campus in the year 1990. Recognizing the service rendered by Shri Nehru Maha Vidyalaya NSS Volunteers, Bharathiar University sanctioned three more units. The main objective of NSS is development of the personality of students through community service. At present four NSS Units, with a hundred volunteers in each, are deeply involved in serving the community by educating rural masses in public health and pollution, traffic regulation and social issues which are crucial for the well-being of society.
