The Department of Microbiology started in 1993 with an Undergraduate Programme. The Postgraduate Programme in Microbiology was introduced in the year 2016. The department consists of highly experienced faculty members who strive to provide quality education at Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Research levels. The members of faculty are actively involved in Research and the research outcomes of the department which are well evidenced by publication of research papers in peer reviewed journals with good impact factor. The department regularly organizes national and international level seminars, symposiums, workshops and guest lectures. Students brought laurels to the Department by acquiring Bharathiar University ranks since 2010.
