SNMV conducted the Induction ceremony, ‘SWAJITH 2021’ to welcome the first year UG students on 8th October 2021. Dr. B. Subramani, Principal welcomed the dignitaries, staff members, parents and students. The Chief Guest, Dr. G. Gnanasambandam, Professor in Tamil, writer, Orator and Actor emphasized the importance of education and its impact on student’s life. He quoted ‘ No Pain No Gain’ in a significant manner also, emphasized the students , “ BE HUNGRY, BE ALONE, STAY AWAKE”. He claimed that no other possession compares to that of One’s Education. He also said that it is a privilege for any student to study in a reputed institution with resourceful teachers and hence congratulated all the first-year students of SNMV for being blissfully fortunate in that aspect. Dr. Ramesh C. Bafna, President, CWA & SNMV, presided over the function and delivered the Presidential Address. He encouraged all the young minds to dedicate oneself completely to the journey of success and also inspired them to make good friends besides education. He highlighted the facilities and amenities provided by the college, 100% Scholarship given for outstanding students along with free hostel facilities and exclusion of uniform fee, sports Scholarship, IAS Academy and a Central and State Government sponsored free skill training programme (DDU-GKY), which aims in transforming youths in rural to an economically independent and globally relevant workforce.
Shri Sunilkumar Nahata, Secretary, SNMV, felicitated the gathering and pointed out that the college will provide all the opportunities according to the students’ interest and passion and also emphasized the significance of Goal setting and planning in the process of working for success which was an energizing strike for all the new comers. Shri Ashok Lunia, Treasurer, CWA & Shri. M Nishant Jain, Joint Secretary, SNMV CAS graced the occasion with their presence and welcomed the students. Shri Ashok Lunia instilled a positive thought among them citing Aristotle’s saying that the roots of Education are Bitter but the fruits of it are sweet.
Republic Day is celebrated to commemorate the date on which our country established its own democratic rule after the Independence. On 26th January 1950 our nation replaced Government of India Act and Constitution of India was brought into effect. The day is celebrated as Republic Day throughout the country. SNMV College of Arts and Science also celebrates the day each year in a grand manner by inviting national martyrs as special guests.
Independence Day is annually celebrated on 15 August, as a national holiday in our country commemorating the nation’s independence from the United Kingdom on 15 August 1947. The day is celebrated by Government and Private institutions to honor and respect our freedom fighters and their invaluable sacrifice. SNMV College of Arts and Science, is keen on teaching the patriotism and national integrity to the students. The college celebrates Independence Day every year. The celebrations include the conduct of competitions such as oratorical, drawing, music and group dance.
To mark the 75th anniversary of India’s freedom, Shri Nehru Maha Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, celebrated the Independence Day on 15th August 2021 with great pomp and reverence at the college premises. The National Flag was hoisted by Shri Sunilkumar Nahata, Secretary – SNMV along with the other dignitaries. This was followed by a spectacular parade by the NCC Cadets of SNMV.
On this patriotic occasion, Dr. B. Subramani, the Principal of the college welcomed the gathering with a record of appreciation to all the staff for their contribution towards the institution. The Special Address was delivered by Shri Mahaveer Bothra, Vice President – CWA. In his note, he lauded the dedication and sacrifice of every freedom fighter with gratitude and he reminded the crowd present to carry forward the sense of n every walks of life. Following this, Shri Ramesh Sutaliya, Secretary – CWA, SNV and SNV Global offered his salutations on the occasion. This was followed by the motivational words shared by Shri Sunilkumar Nahata, Secretary SNMV, who emphasized, “To succeed in a mission, every individual and organization should have a single-minded devotion”. The Immediate Past President, Dr. Ashok G Bafna, also congratulated the institution on its remarkable achievement with joy and pride. Shri Ashok Lunia, Treasurer – CWA and Dr. K. Muthukumar, Director – SNMV IM graced the occasion with their presence.
Mahatma Gandhi, the apostle of peace and the Father of the Nation was born on 2nd October 1869 at Porbandar in Gujarat. For Gandhiji non- violence and ‘truth’ were the two inalienable virtues. He proved to the world that freedom can be achieved through the path of non-violence. The words of Gandhi “The only virtue I want to claim is truth and non-violence. I lay no claim to super human powers: I want none” never fail to inspire all. His birth anniversary is celebrated at SNMV every year with special guests and the management.
Regalia is an intercollegiate cultural meet organized by the college every year. The event is comprised of on-stage and off-stage competitions like Group Dance, Solo Dance, Adapt Tune, Variety Entertainment, Mimicry, Explore your Culture, Instrumental Music, Solo Singing, Photography, Flower Arrangement, Facial Painting, Rangoli, Mehandi, Wealth from Waste, Treasure Hunt and Poster Design. Celebrities are invited as guests in order to motivate the students to expose their talents in extracurricular activities. The college students in and around the state are invited for participation. The winners are awarded with attractive cash prizes.
The College celebrated its College Day, ‘Quake Arena 2020’ on 28thFebruary, 2020. The Chief Guest of the function was Mr.V.Nandakumar, IRS, Assistant Director, Investigation Department-Income Tax, and Government of India. He motivated the students to become the great positive transformers of tomorrow. “You have to choose the right path yourself; change your thoughts towards good things’’ he concluded. The Guest of honor, Lieutenant Esan, Founder and Senior Director, CCUS, Commander of Disaster Rescue Squad, congratulated the student community who has given life to Quake Arena 2020; he also appreciated the good response of the students towards the guests which shows the discipline and good standards maintained by the institution. Rahul Sidharth of Indian Army also graced the occasion with his presence and brave words.
Dr.Ashok G Bafna, Immediate Past Presided, admired and appreciated the college which has grown in leaps and bounds with student strength of around 3500 now. He recalled the story and the charters of the great Epic, ‘Mahabharatha’ and motivated the students to become the symbols of generosity like Karna and to develop the art of mastery over everything like Lord Krishna. The presence of Shri. Bharathkumar Jaghamani, the Secretary, added more elegance and significance to Quake Arena 2020. He motivated the students to showcase their talents through powerful performance in the multifarious competitions. Shri Ashok Lunia, Treasurer, graced the occasion with his valuable presence.
The Principal, Dr. B.Subramani, presented the Annual Report of the college for the academic year 2019-2020. Dr.T.P. Krishna Kumar, Director, SNMV Institute of Management, welcomed the gathering. The magnanimity of the gathering was bestowed with the unveiling of the College Magazine, ‘LAHAR-2020’, Tamil Journal, ‘Elamagilam’ and the News Letter, SNMV Insight, by the Chief Guest. The mirthful gathering concluded with the distribution of prizes to the winners of the various competitions. Appreciation Awards were given to the staff members who produced 100% result in Bharathiar University examinations and University Ranks. Green House won the overall Trophy. Around 3500 students attended the function along with their teachers.
Graduation day is celebrated every academic year to honor and confer degrees on the outgoing students. The Secretary declares the graduation day open. The Principal presents the Graduation Day Report. An Honorable Union Minister or the Vice Chancellor of Bharathiar University graces the occasion as Chief Guest. He delivers the Graduation Day address and confers degrees on the graduates. Gold Medals to University Rank Holders and Silver medals to class toppers are also presented by him. The President of the college presides over the program. The Office Bearers and the Governing Council members grace the function with their valuable presence.
Annual Sports Day
“Sports teaches you character, it teaches you to play by the rules, it teaches you to know what it feels like to win and lose and it teaches you about life”.
SNMV College of Arts and Science organizes sports day every year to identify and to appreciate the yearly participation of students in various sports tournaments. It encourages and motivates the upcoming sports stars by conducting various sports activities which open up positive opportunities to them. The participants and winners of the events are awarded with medals and trophies.
The College celebrated Samacheer Pongal on 13 th January 2021. Dr. B. Subramani, Principal delivered the Welcome Address. Dr. Ramesh C Bafna, President, CWA and SNMV, presided over the function. He reminded the staff and students that food is valuable and that it should not be wasted. Food is generated with the hard works of farmers. Shri Mahaveer Bothra, Vice President, CWA & SNMV, conveyed his hearty greetings for Pongal celebrations to all. Shri Sunil Kumar Nahata, Secretary, SNMV, Shri Rathan Chand Bothra, Joint Treasurer, conveyed best wishes to all. The Cultural programmes like the dance and group debate forum by the staff and students added flavour to the programme. Around 200 staff members participated in the function.
