The Department of Social Work, evolved from July 2013, offering MSW programs with 90 credits. The Department offers three specializations viz., Community Development, Medical and Psychiatric Social Work and Human Resources Management. The Department also offers research programs motivating M Phil and Ph.D. scholars to undertake their projects.
The course provides professional knowledge and skills required for Social Work trainees. The curriculum is intended to offer field work training, including rural/tribal camp, research projects, Institutional training and block placement programs. The Department has established network with NGOs, industries and medical and psychiatric clinics with the intention to facilitate field work training and campus calling for better job placements of the MSW students.

Swastika Student Counselling Cell:
As part of student support and progression criterion, considering the need for the professional counseling service, the Department renders an exclusive counseling service for students since 2013. The Department takes pride in having Swastika – Student Counseling Cell that functions for catering to the psychological needs of the students of SNMV CAS.

Social Work professionals are expected to work in Industries as HR Managers and Labor Welfare Officers. As NGOs, Government welfare departments and Psychiatric set-ups, Social Work professions are found in the areas of child and family services, child protection, counseling, rehabilitation, disability, aging, mental health, community health centres, youth welfare, substance abuse, and disaster relief and management.
