The course was introduced in the academic year 2013-2014. The course is tailor-made for aspirants of chartered accountancy and other professional courses in the domain of commerce by drawing rich academic inputs from contemporary syllabus reflecting recent developments.
The department activities intended to enrich the professional acumen of the students are molded by PROFEX-C, the association of the department meant for leveraging the professional excellence in commerce. The association organizes guest lectures, workshops, field visits, industrial visits, career counseling programs and management games besides catering to the regular academic requirements.
Comparatively, graduates of commerce with P.A. are given priority in employment in leading auditing firms and other accounting related jobs owing to having had better exposure in the under graduation program with industry specific curriculum. Some of the job opportunities include: Finance Managers, Financial Advisors, Directors (Finance), Financial Controllers, Chief Financial Officer, Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Management Accountant.

The department has chosen OFFICE AUTOMATION AND ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE as add on course as it is very much well oriented with the job requirements of the students of this program and the same is in conjunction with the main syllabus.
The course is covering major aspects of executive communication ranging from drafting letters, memos and office correspondences besides exposing the students to various aspects of office related follow-ups. The information and communication related concepts, the latest trends in technological fronts, extensive passages on the physical aspects of computer systems are also provided.
Furthermore, Practical classes on MS-OFFICE, TALLY accounting software in computer laboratories are given to give a good exposure to the concepts learned in class room atmosphere. At the end, a visit is organized to an industry where processes reminiscent of aspects learned in class rooms are practiced, to enable the students to get hands on training and clarifications if any. Eventually, the students are asked to prepare a detailed project report documenting all aspects of their learning out to ADD ON program marks the end of the program.
